Reverend Walter W. Reid, Jr.
The Reverend Walter Winstead Reid, Jr. was born January 15, 1960 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late
Rev. Walter W. Reid Sr. and the late Mrs. Jerrie L. Reid. He is married to Evangelist Brenda L. Reid and
is the proud father of three daughters, Kimberly, Brennan, and Shaquita; and grandfather of two,
MaKayla and MaKenzi.
He has successfully matriculated as an alumnus of Trevecca Nazarene University where he holds a
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Management. He also holds an Associate Degree in Business from Nashville
Community State College. Reverend Reid has furthered his post graduate studies at the Memphis
Theological Seminary and at Trevecca Nazarene University where he obtained a Master’s Degree of
Theological Studies.
Reverend Reid’s extensive experience in the Banking Industry led to his personal and professional
associations with the Minority Banker’s Association and the Chamber of Commerce. This same
experience of over 20 years further lends itself to his significant accomplishments in the areas of finance
and construction, more specifically, a variety of projects that were initiated or completed during his
pastorates. Most notably, those projects have included the building of an Educational Facility and
Sanctuary expansion at St. John A.M.E. Church in Springfield, Tennessee, along with the acquisition of
land. Rev. Reid also served as coordinator for a substantial tornado restoration project at St. Peter
A.M.E. Church, Clarksville, Tennessee, an important landmark that is recorded on the National Register
of Historic Places, along with acquisition of land.
Under the auspices of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, he is a fifth generation A.M.E. minister.
Previously, he has served as Pastor of St. James A.M.E. Church, Memphis, Tennessee; St. Peter A.M.E.
Church, Clarksville, Tennessee; St. John A.M.E. Church, Springfield, Tennessee, Clayborn Chapel
A.M.E Church, Williamsport, Tennessee, Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church, Nashville TN and served as
Presiding Elder of the North and South District of the Tennessee Annual conference. He is currently
appointed as the Presiding Elder of the Louisville District of the Kentucky Annual Conference and Senior
Pastor of Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church, Louisville, Kentucky.
